NLD RC8B4E/T4E motor mount installation
Please follow instructions carefully for best results.
Tools needed: Hand drill or drill press, 5/32” or 4mm Drill bit, 90 degree countersink 3/8” or larger in diameter.
1. Remove your pinion gear, but leave the motor installed for now. Remove top plate and center differential.
2. Remove FWB/RWB plate from chassis. Remove only the FRONT bulkhead from plate and set aside. Re-install FWB/RWB plate onto chassis.
3. Using the 2 front outer holes now unoccupied in the FWB/RWB plate as a drill guide, drill through the chassis using either a 4mm OR 5/32 drill bit suitable for aluminum. A scrap piece of wood makes a great backstop to avoid drilling into your bench.
4. Being mindful to not allow aluminum chips near your motor or ESC; flip the car over. Countersink the 2 new holes using the recommended or similar 90DEG countersink. Take your time using lower RPMs to avoid chatter. Periodically check your depth with a mounting screw going just deep enough so that the screw head is flush with the chassis. Carefully blow away all aluminum chips again avoiding your motor and ESC.
5. Remove the sliding motor plate from your NLD motor mount and set aside. Install motor mount with included M4x14 FH screws using thread lock.
6. Remove motor and factory motor clamp. Install motor mount slider onto the motor using included M4x8 cap screws. Be mindful of the orientation and how the solder tabs will present in the car; adjust if necessary.
7. Slide motor into the mount. Install differential and pinion gear. Be sure to use thread lock on top and bottom clamping screws before setting gear mesh.
8. You may drill a 5mm hole into the chassis to gain access to the lower screw with your hex driver OR use the included stubby 2.5mm key. You also will have better access to the top clamping screw prior to installing the top plate.
